Who is
Sandie A. Norman?
Chain Breakers Outreach
Sandie A. Norman is a Minister of the Gospel and has traveled the globe ministering in South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Lagos, and Kenya. Born and raised on the west side of Chicago, she understands what it was like to produce challenges. That’s one of the reasons she established Life Beyond Limits, Inc. as an organization designed to change lives by helping men and women overcome obstacles in life. Chain Breakers was, then, established at the beginning of the Pandemic to bring hope to hopeless situations by going in the streets, boots to the ground in designated areas usually staying 24-hours at a time to show the love of God by bringing hot meals, community resources, clothing, household goods, prayer, evangelism, worship, and a listening ear.
When Chain Breakers set up an area for food and supplies, they established a block perimeter. That enables the volunteers to get to know the constituents who are homeless; why they live there, how they got there, etc. They set up in some of the most dangerous areas in the city of Chicago, reaching out amid drug trafficking, prostitution, and gun violence. Not everyone who is out there wants to be out there. The volunteers are trained how to approach, pray, hand out food, and always keep safe. The stories are as heartwarming as they’re heartbreaking. There’s a story about a mother who lost her 3 sons to gun violence.

The week before going into O Block just before Christmas, a young man was shot and killed. Not only did the volunteers begin to pray but there were over 500 people across the USA that wanted to pray for O Block that weren’t going to be able to get to Chicago for the outreach but wanted to take part by praying. Praying began 3 days before the event. The day of the outreach, the Chain Breakers pulled up to O Block to find an iron rod fencing around the entire perimeter with security telling them they would not be allowed entrance, as just the evening before, another murder had taken place. We prayed. Chain Breakers set up right outside of the iron fence, the security guard told them, “If you hear gunshots, duck and run to your cars and drive away as quickly as possible”. There were no gunshots. No one was hurt. People came out. They were as peaceful as possible even though there were long lines and they had to wait. They lined up and waited as hundreds of people came out. Children were playing in the yard. Hot meals were handed out. Children chose the toys they wanted. It was peaceful and happy, and they were grateful.
In 2021 alone, Chain Breakers served approximately 4000 home cooked meals, gave over 500 coats to those in need during the months of January, February, November & December. During Christmas, the team gave out over 500 Toy’s on O Block in Chicago.
Chain Breakers has taken a clear and honest look at the problems of homelessness and hunger in the City of Chicago. Having a constant street presence, advocacy and prayer is at the heart of the mission. They have been analyzing the causes and conditions in the areas and coming together in prayer to relieve suffering and violence in these broken-down communities and are forgoing new methods of interventions and advancing the fight for more support in the public and governmental sphere led by Sandie A. Norman.
